Halloween is inching closer, and if you don’t have a costume planned by now, you may think you’re stuck. Once you’re out of high school, it can be hard to come up with an idea that is still flattering and fun without being overly revealing or plain trashy. It’s even harder to find a costume that fits these criteria, unless you make it yourself.
P&C is here to help with some classy, simple DIY costume ideas!
1. Rosie the Riveter
This is such an iconic look, and it’s super easy to recreate. Tie a denim shirt at the waist, throw on a pair of shorts or a pencil skirt, and wrap your hair up in a red bandana. Add makeup and, voila!
2. 1920’s Flapper
Another shout out to a classier time, this costume is unique, attractive and refined. You’ll need a drop-waist dress with fringe, pearls, a fascinator, and some great lipstick.
3. Stewardess
This is a feminine and appealing option that shows very little skin, making it a perfect choice for office or family parties. You need a matching skirt and blazer, some basic heels, a cap and a sleek hairdo. You can spice it up with some makeup and studs.
4.Marilyn Monroe
She may be known for her sex appeal, but all a costume would entail is an empire or A-line halter dress, pumps and a great blowout. So simple, but so obvious! You will definitely stand out without having to put too much effort into making your costume.
5. Superhero in Disguise
This is a great option if you’re running late with your costume prep. Wear jeans, leggings or a pencil skirt, and a button down shirt, blazer or cardigan. Hide a superhero t-shirt under your top, and find a great pair of glasses to complete the costume.
6. Little Red Hiding Hood
Mix things up with this childhood classic. Wear your best little black dress and heels, and pair them with a red cap or cloak. Add a wicker basket and red lipstick to finish the look. If you or your friend has a dog, you may want to include him in your costume as well!
7. Cat Woman/ Black Cat
This is another super easy option. Wear your favorite black outfit, whether its a dress or black jeans, and add ears, a tail and some whiskers.
8. Witch
Not all witches have to have big, warty noses and billowing black robes. Keep your outfit minimal and load on the accessories with little bats or flowers in your hair, a basket full of worn books and jars, and a black cat. You can also use wear your regular clothes with a black cape and a red and yellow striped scarf to channel Hermione Granger from the Harry Potter series. Carry around a book or two for the perfect Hogwarts witch.
