They key to looking great and keeping comfortable during this transitional season is layering. It’s super stylish, lets you show off really cute items, and is functional, too. Autumn days are usually flakey; sometimes chilly, and sometimes hot and humid. And, sometimes, both. Annoying, right? But don’t you worry, here are some super cute outfits that are all about the layers.
This outfit is very easy, and probably doesn’t even warrant a pre-season shop. Chances are you’ve already got a favorite pair of jeans and a plain t-shirt. Add a neat jacket, a light scarf and some earrings and you’re good to go! We think these booties add an exciting seasonal touch, but you could wear any lightweight boots or even flats with this.
This is a low impact outfit that’s feminine and understated. The cozy vest brings in a touch of fall, and the functional leggings and ballet flats keep it flexible and appealing. If you don’t love wearing leggings on their own, swap them out for a pair of skinny jeans. This outfit also looks great with jewelry, so don’t skimp!
Cable knit sweaters are a fall staple, and there are so many ways to wear them. Layer one over a springier dress for a versatile outfit, or pair with leggings or jeans for a more traditional look. These can be worn over t-shirts, under a jacket, or as a single layer, depending on the weather. Here are a couple of ideas:
Also versatile, and totally fall themed, is the plaid flannel shirt (or dress!). Pair with jeans, leggings or tights, or wear it open over a solid colored dress. Add your new boots and a cardigan to really complete the look.
Another timeless fall style is the anorak. Lightweight but weather-resistant, these outdoorsy vests and jackets are a signature autumn item. They look great with stripes and a necklace, like we show here, but can also be worn with more feminine pieces, like a lace dress, for a more unique look. If your anorak is military green, wear it with red browns to really make the colors pop.
What are your favorite fall styles?
Until next time,
