Now that the sun is out and the weather is finally warming up, we’ve started changing our wardrobes and branching out into floral dresses, ballet flats and lighter layers. Just as our outfits require some adjustments, so does our makeup, and we’ve compiled a handy list of tips for spring just for you gals! Try these if you’re looking to shop for some new additions after a spring cleaning or just want to freshen up your look.
Keep your foundation light (or non-existent!). Shedding layers includes our makeup, and thick, cakey foundation is just not right for warmer weather. Look for a light airbrush or bb cream, or just stick with a loose powder foundation to give your complexion a boost.
Dewy skin is always in style. Choose a light, warm blush to give your face a healthy spring glow and spritz with a natural toner to set it. Add beautiful pearls to bring more light to your face and you’re ready to meet the season head-on!
Opt for lighter colors. Like your foundation, the rest of your makeup should be breezy and lightweight. Replace intense contouring with some simple bronzer and a peach or coral-colored blush, and don’t be too heavy with your eye makeup either. Skip the eyeliner, and choose one or two pale eyeshadow colors to compliment your blush or lipstick tones. Don’t forget mascara, of course! If you’re looking to add some drama for an event or late-night out, choose a bold lipstick color and keep your eyes and cheeks bare, or pair a smokey eyed look with nude lips and lightly-blushed cheeks. Jewelry and a great bag are essential for these looks, of course!
Wear pearls. Though they work all year round, pearls are especially perfect for spring. Like makeup, they brighten the face and compliment any complexion, highlighting the eyes and adding sophistication and class to any outfit. Try to mix things up; if your go-to pearls are simple studs, try wearing teardrops or hoop earrings on your next outing!
