There are so many fashion trends and styles that we come across, and it’s hard to pinpoint just one or two that we love the most. That being said, we have recognized a certain pattern, or characteristic, that all of our favorite looks tend to have in common: contrast. We love understated styles that incorporate elements of traditional class with something a bit more unexpected.
One growing trend that often fits this category is the boyfriend jean. Seemingly casual and very laid back, celebs and fashionistas have been breaking the mold by pairing them with tailored tops, heeled booties and other feminine accessories, and even wearing them on the red carpet! If you’ve got an old pair shoved in the back of your closet, their time is coming around again. Try some of these tips and ideas to breath new life into your wardrobe!
- Cuff ’em. Boyfriend jeans are loose and boxy, so rolling the cuffs will make them look a bit more tailored and highlight your ankles. This looks amazing with point-toe flats or heeled booties!
- Add a blazer. Aside from the added layer for warmth, blazers look sophisticated and chic without going overboard, making them perfect for pairing with boyfriend jeans. A little business and a little play makes this combo a great everyday option. You can easily add accessories such as scarves, hats and jewelry to complete this look.
- Feminine flair. Boyfriend jeans are by definition a bit masculine, so pairing them with super-feminine pieces like lace, pearls, oversized handbags and heels is an unexpected but ultra-chic choice. Make sure to take care of finishing touches like make up and hair!
- Embrace your inner tom boy. If you bought these jeans because you secretly love the slouchy look, you should totally go with your gut! Look for oversized sweaters in luxurious, cozy textures, plaid button-downs or oversized t-shirts, then try a half-tuck for some polish. Shoes can be flats, heels or sneakers like All Stars as long as you love them. Accessories like blanket scarves, sunglasses and beanies all say you’re too comfortable to care, which is something to envy as much as style.
What’s your favorite way to wear boyfriend jeans?
