In our previous post, we talked about a few simple ways to care for your skin during the harsh winter season. While healthy skin has a big impact on our overall appearance, ladies with fairer skin may feel like they need a little extra boost to keep their complexion looking warm and bright. In winter especially, fake tans and expensive bronzers can be very tempting, but there are other, simpler ways to keep your face looking alive and glowing without investing in new and expensive treatments. Here are a few tips for your everyday look!
First, embrace your skin tone. Pale skin is elegant and beautiful, and looks great with pearls– you shouldn’t waste your time trying to change it into something it’s not. Instead, learn to enhance your natural look! Avoid cakey, dark makeup. It will clash with the rest of your skin, and look fake and even cheap. During winter, limit your foundation to a light powder, and add a pale, coffee-colored bronzer to give a subtle glow. Buff the bronzer all over the face and neck for a natural, smooth appearance, and dust the apples of the cheeks with a peach-tinted blush.
For the eyes, use sheer, soft eyeshadow colors to brighten the eyes without creating a look that is too intense. Darker colors are to dressy, and may make a pale face look washed out. A rosy gold or pale bronze works perfectly. Sweep the shadow across the entire lid, and trace the lower lash line as well. Add black mascara to open the eyes and add subtle definition.
For the lips, light is best. Understated, peachy pinks will keep your face from looking chalky, without being overbearing. Be sure to choose a shade which complements the blush. Keep the effects of the weather in mind, and choose a lipstick or balm that is thick and moisturizing for extra protection from wind and indoor heating.
What’s your winter makeup routine? Have you embraced your porcelain complexion?
Until next time,
